Satchie Carvounis is a Regional Manager with Security Trust Company, a self directed retirement administrator.  She’s been helping individuals and companies set up IRAs that can invest in non-traditional assets, like real estate, private lending (where your IRA is the bank), investing in operating businesses (green energy companies, brew pub restaurants, software companies, etc.), precious metals (gold, silver and platinum – ounces and coins), as well as the traditional brokerage account. She also works with businesses to find them funding through their IRAs when banks are not lending for business loans and lines of credit.

Having a teacher centered training, Satchie enjoys educating people about the choices they have with an IRA, something that a banker or broker would not tell them about. As an experienced investor in real estate and private lending, she helps her clients through the process of setting up an IRS compliance structure, finding those investments, and bringing people together to invest in areas that could bring them higher returns. She is a guest speaker on the topic of self directed IRAs and business funding, working with real estate investment associations, business groups, small to medium businesses, and even relationship marketing with individuals to find them investment partners.

Satchie is a native Floridian and moved to the Washington Metro area in 1982. She met her husband while working for the same company, she in Miami, FL, and he in Gaithersburg, MD. Her husband is a telecom engineer with British Telecom, and they both have the luxury to work from home. Presently, they are “empty nesting,” with one daughter working and living on her own, and another in college in Hawaii. But her household is not completely calm and quiet with three parrots (who all talk) and a 10 pound Pom, named Cleo. One of her parrots, Kramer, actually calls the dog, scolds her when she’s barking or whining, and gives her commands as well! And another one, Bonny (named for the famous female pirate of the Caribbean, Anne Bonny), likes to ask contractors and guests, “What are ya’ doin’?” It definitely shakes them up! Satchie and Dion live in Ashton, MD in Montgomery County and their daughters attended Sherwood High School.
