Regardless of whether I am at work or at home, I occasionally experience disagreements with others. I am actually comfortable with disagreements because I accept them as necessary and sometimes useful elements of life.

During disagreements, I am occasionally exposed to information I had yet to know. I am subject to the passions of others and how they feel about certain situations and events.

I am confident that I can handle any personal or professional discord because I have the skills necessary to do so successfully.

I am tactful when I listen to other’s arguments carefully and with an open mind. I refrain from interrupting others involved in the disagreement. When they have a good point, I say so. Also, stating my position honestly, clearly, and with a neutral voice tone guarantees that I am mindful of their feelings.

My goals are to state my position effectively, listen to their argument respectfully, avoid being offensive, and negotiate a mutually beneficial solution.

I experience many advantages of being tactful. Others regard me with respect and I avoid unpleasant feelings afterwards.

Today, I use tact and diplomacy whenever I am involved in a disagreement. I am confident that I can come to an acceptable agreement that is beneficial to all parties involved.
