About a year ago, I met Cindy Carter and learned about Cancer Support Foundation as they were one of the sponsors of The Mother’s Self Care program which gave me improved health, new hope for the future and a beautiful new smile. Cindy’s caring for others shines through the first time you meet her. She is the president and co-founder of Cancer Support Foundation. A non-profit organization who provide a lifeline to recovery for cancer survivors and their caregivers. They assist people with any type of cancer, any age, anywhere in the state of Maryland.
As I was writing this I realized that I cannot explain what Cindy and Cancer Support does any better than they do, so here it is straight from their website. Most people realize that patients who lack health insurance face tremendous financial problems. However, even those with health insurance can quickly exhaust their financial resources, leading to the possibility of losing their cars, their homes, and even their jobs. One cancer survivor put it this way: “I beat the disease, but I lost my life.”
I have had some very close friends and family who have been in this situation and it gives me great joy to know that there are people like Cindy and the volunteers of the Cancer Support Foundation out there when you need some assistance. In order to keep funding flowing, Cancer Support Foundation has many different fundraisers. One of them I really love is “Spa Day”. The Howard County Holistic Center and leading healing and spa professionals have come together to offer three days of pampering. Enjoy a full 1-hour session choosing from Massage, Shiatsu, Acupuncture, Reflexology, Reiki, Bio Energetic Synchronization Technique (BEST), Quantum-Touch, or Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT). The next Spa Day is Saturday, April 9, 2011 with times from 9 AM to 8 PM, at the Howard County Holistic Center, 9170 State Rt. 108, Suite 202, Columbia, MD 21043. The Cost is Only $50 – Food Included! Pre-registration Required by calling Cancer Support Foundation at 410-964-9563 t or visit the website at: www.cancersupportfoundation.org for more information on Spa Day. The proceeds from Spa Day will be to help cancer patients through the Cancer Support Foundation, Inc.
Another way Cindy is fundraising is through the First Annual Motorcycle and Car Rally Across Maryland 2 PM – 6 PM. This special RAM event includes a motorcycle, car and truck caravan into Baltimore City for a fabulous Rock Concert featuring six bands, great food, and more! Cindy shared with me plans for a Golf Tournament this summer as a way for folks in the Baltimore area to help out and spend a little time on the green!
If you would like some pampering, want to have some fun at RAM or just want to help out Cindy and the Cancer Support Foundation to give hope and help to families, then visit her website and lend a helping hand! Or give Cindy a call at 410-964-9563.
One of the many families that Cindy Carter and the Cancer Support Foundation have helped had this to say, “Cindy was the only one who stood by me. Now my kids and I have a home. I’m still going through treatment and I call Cindy for encouragement when I need it. If it wasn’t for her, I don’t know how I would have gotten through this.” – Linda
