I had the pleasure of meeting Melissa Lew recently. As you scan her table at the amazing pieces she has created you can see why she won so many awards. Mia, Shari and I attended the DC Green Fest a few weeks ago and stopped by her booth. Melissa is an award winning DC Metro area artist and designer whose work is strongly influenced by her Chinese heritage, especially the culture’s deep respect and esteem for nature.
She works primarily with bamboo, stainless steel, and recycled fine silver to create unique wearable art. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Art and Visual Technology from George Mason University in 2005; her work has received numerous awards and has been exhibited throughout the D.C. Metro area, including at the Bead Museum of Washington D.C.
Melissa Lew is proud to partner with Becky’s Fund to help raise awareness about domestic violence. More info can be located at their website - http://www.beckysfund.org/cms/ The mission of Becky’s Fund is four-fold: to foster awareness, encourage advocacy, promote activism, and to provide support for victims of domestic violence. 10% of all Transcendence sales are donated to Becky’s Fund.
