Patrons of Great Sage don’t have to be told to by their moms to “eat their veggies”.  This all vegetarian restaurant offers a unique dining experience that anyone can enjoy, even if you’re not a fan of “vegan” cuisine.  After hearing about Great Sage through mutual acquaintances, a group of my friends and I decided to check it out.  We were rewarded with a wonderfully calming, candle lit night of good food and entertainment.

Our six course gourmet vegan meal was accompanied by “chakra balancing” and an acoustic guitar serenade by Mr. Ty Ford.  The menu was offered on a prix fixe basis, making it fun and easy to indulge in a tasty variety of fresh veggie dishes.  It was re-assuring to know that these uncooked vegetable dishes had not had their enzyme nutrients destroyed through the cooking process, thus allowing both our palates and our bodies to be rewarded.

The six courses were served every 10-12 minutes, allowing each course to be enjoyed and savored. Between the courses each table was greeted by a server to assure that everyone was educated on what was being served. The presentation of the food from color, texture and assorted flavors allowed us to use the traditional five senses to experience the meal on all levels. I was impressed with the variety of tastes.

There were many people experiencing a raw veggie meal for the first time. A woman sitting with three other woman  behind me stated “We are virgins to raw and never knew that you could do some much with raw foods, and to top it off it was awesome and we are not stuffed but rather satisfied.”

As a vegan I found the meal to be absolutely delectable, but even I could not have predicted how enjoyable it would be to have the courses tied to the nourishment of chakras throughout the body.

If you like to break away from routine, give Great Sage a try!  You’ll love it even if you’re a meat eater!
