Local residents in Howard, Prince Georges, Baltimore, and Montgomery Counties have a new place to get community news, with the launch of the Village Connector, a new online newspaper.  Glenn K. Garnes, founder of the Village Connector, says the newspaper will focus on news that typically gets second hand coverage in the mainstream media.  “We will focus more attention on what’s going on in local schools, community organizations, and other topics having a distinctly local flavor”, Garnes said.  “You won’t find much in the way of politics and controversy in our pages, just the stuff community members can be proud of”, he continued.

Garnes shared that he hopes to make the project a collaborative effort with actual community members contributing stories and helping to write the paper.  He hopes to partner with local schools in the areas the newspaper covers to have journalism students handle the majority of the reporting of community news, either for credit or as volunteers.
