Dr. Mitchell learned during high school that she had the aptitude to excel in a medical-related career field. Born in Virginia, Dr. Mitchell spent many of her early years in Germany where her parents were teachers. She returned to Maryland to attend high school and later graduated with honors from the University of Virginia. After considering several options in science and medicine, she chose the field of dentistry because she felt that it would provide her with an opportunity to have a career in caring for others while still being able to enjoy raising a family. She entered the University of Maryland Dental School, where she graduated magna cum laude in 1995, and began her career as a dentist with an internship in Wilmington, Delaware.

Dr. Mitchell has provided dental care on mission trips to the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, and El Salvador.  She and her staff have volunteered locally at the Outreach Dental Clinic at the Stanton Center in Annapolis. In addition to being a caring and talented dentist for the past 15 years, Dr. Mitchell is also a wife and mom.  She lives in Edgewater with her husband, Jesse, and their two sons, Glen and Patrick.
